Privacy

Hairmetry is built to know as little about you as possible.

What we do not collect

• No accounts, no passwords and no mailing lists. We never store email addresses.
• No advertising, no cookies and no tracking.
• No database of visitors or quiz answers.

Your quiz answers

Your answers are encoded in the web address of your results page so you can bookmark or share it. They are not stored on our server. Anyone you share the address with can see those answers, so share it with care.

Emailing your results

If you ask us to email your results, we use your address once to send that one email and then forget it.

• The address is not stored, not written to logs and never used for anything else. No newsletter, no follow-ups.
• The email is sent through our email delivery provider, which handles the address only to deliver the message.
• To stop abuse, we count sends per IP address and per address (as a scrambled code, not the address itself) in memory only, for at most a day.
• The email contains your hair profile and the link to your results, so anyone who can read your inbox can see them.

Photos

Photo analysis is optional, limited to people aged 16 and over, and you can always answer the questions instead.

• Your photo is shrunk and re-encoded in your browser before it is sent, which removes hidden metadata such as location.
• It is processed on our own server by an open-source AI model that runs on that server. It is not sent to any third-party AI service.
• It is deleted right after the analysis. It is never stored, never written to logs and never shared.
• It is never used to train anything.
• The AI only suggests hair type and routine answers for the quiz. You review and confirm every answer.
• We do not use the photo to work out your race, sex, age or emotions.

Cookies and analytics

We set no cookies. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and reports only aggregate figures such as page views, without building a profile of you.

Server logs

Like most servers, ours keeps short-lived request logs (time, page, status) to keep the site running and to fix errors. Our access logs drop everything after the question mark in the address for the quiz and results pages, so your answers (which are encoded in that part of the address) are never written to our logs. Logs are rotated and kept for a short time only (at most three files of 10 MB). To limit abuse, photo requests per IP address are counted in memory only and forgotten after an hour.

Hosting

The site is served through Cloudflare, which handles DNS, HTTPS and caching, and so sees ordinary connection data such as your IP address.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask what personal data we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Because we keep no accounts, answers, photos or email addresses, there is usually nothing to hand over or delete. If you email us, we keep that conversation only as long as needed to help you. You can also complain to the Dutch data protection authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) or the authority in your own country.
