TDM-105795
A topical thyroid-hormone-receptor-beta agonist tested in 71 men in 2023; hair counts rose a little more than on vehicle, with no significance reported and no phase 3 since.
Investigational, in trials
Cost varies
Safety: minor
What it is
TDM-105795 is a topical solution designed to act on thyroid hormone receptor beta in skin without whole-body thyroid effects. It is not approved and is still investigational. It should not be confused with thyroid disease treatment, which can matter for hair.
What the studies show
- In a randomised vehicle-controlled phase 2 trial of 71 men over 16 weeks, mean change in target-area non-vellus hair count was 20.3 (0.0025%) and 22.4 (0.02%) versus 14.0 on vehicle. Hair width did not improve and the registry reports no significance (trial record).
- Both active arms gained hairs but so did the vehicle arm. No peer-reviewed paper has been found.
Side effects and safety
- Not described publicly; thyroid effects were the design concern.
Bottom line
The signal is weak and unpublished, so it is not ready. Discuss with a doctor.
