What it is

A polyether-modified silicone. A 2025 review notes that water-dispersible silicone technologies aim to reduce buildup, but the sources we opened do not cover this specific ingredient. The properties here are class knowledge.

How it works

The silicone backbone gives slip, and the PEG groups give water affinity, so it deposits less strongly and washes out with mild surfactants (general knowledge).

What the studies show

  • No hair efficacy or safety paper for this specific ingredient was found.

Side effects and safety

Nothing specific was found. It is a cosmetic ingredient.

Bottom line

A reasonable choice if you want silicone feel with lower buildup risk, particularly for curly or fine hair. Expect lighter, less durable slip. Whether water-soluble silicones really avoid buildup has not been tested independently in anything we found. We are not very sure. See silicones.
